Android Destroying The iPhone? (Android vs iOS Marketshare)

As of quarter two 2012, according to IDC Android now controls 68% of the smart phone market and iOS only controls 17%. Is the iPhone dead? Will the iphone 5 save the company? Or does it matter because most android users aren't actually using it as a smartphone?
