The Apple iPhone 5s and the HTC One max might not be the only handsets on the market to wield a fingerprint scanner, if the latest rumor is true. A published report out of Korea on Thursday indicates that the follow-up to the powerhouse LG G2 will include a fingerprint scanner. The scanner is expected to be similar to the one the HTC phablet, which requires the user to swipe his finger over the sensor. On the Apple iPhone 5s, the sensor is embedded into the home button which means that the user does not need to move his finger to get a reading.

An anonymous official who is close to the situation says that the Korean OEM has just made the decision to go ahead and include the scanner on the LG G3. Testing of the fingerprint scanner is still being done on a prototype. The LG G3 is being designed to sync with the company's upcoming LG G-Arch smartwatch and LG-Health fitness wristband.

The LG G3 and the wearable accessories are expected to be unveiled in February at MWC 2014 in Barcelona. The device is said to carry a 5.5 inch IPS LCD screen with resolution of 1440 x 2560 and be powered by a homegrown octa-core chip. The handset is also expected to include a 16MP rear camera.
